PROGILENCE together with UNIMENTA, UK carried our research in the area of English for Employability in the Indian Context. The research finding were presented at events at the British Council, at the Global Education Dialogue held in Sri Lanka and at the Language Conference in New Delhi. The research report English Skills for Employability: Setting Common Standards addresses the need for a framework of English language for Employability for India and the need for integrating the same in the National Occupational Standards, and related skills qualifications for the country. It also in particular makes a case around the prevailing Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, by recommending the addition of an A0 (A-Zero) base level for English for employability purpose to suit the context of India and perhaps other developing countries, especially Non-Native English Countries.
