National Occupational Standards Development for the Power Sector in India

PROGILENCE has developed selected prioritised National Occupational Standards for the Power Sector in India. These were done for the Power Sector Skills Council. These were done in discussions with senior officials and experts from various leading Power companies in India across generation, transmission and distribution segments, including POWERGRID, NTPC, Tata Power, BSES, Leoni and BHEL.

The Power Sector Skills Council is promoted by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on behalf of Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) & Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) and is supported by various PSUs, Associations, and other industry members in the power sector, renewable energy sector and power equipment manufacturing sector.

The roles for which the National Occupational Standards have been developed include Lineman Distribution, Power System Technicians for Transmission, Consumer Power Metering Technicians, Millwright Fitters, etc. National Occupational Standards Development for the Power Sector in India is currently being carried out as part of the work of newly formed Sector Skills Councils in India under the aegis of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC).
